Private Medical Insurance
Private Medical Insurance (PMI) is designed to cover the cost of private medical treatment for ‘acute conditions’.
Private Medical Insurance is designed to provide you with additional security and peace of mind when it comes to receiving healthcare and can complement the services of the NHS by providing prompt access to treatment and access to drugs and services not always available on the NHS.
Why is it important?
Private Medical insurance gives you access to quick, on-demand care. You will have access to a range of hospital resources offering a large selection of treatments that you may not be able to access through the NHS. PMI cover can also give you ongoing recovery treatments such as physiotherapy, which may not be available if relying on the NHS.
You get the convenience of choice over your hospital and doctor, as well as access to a private room. In some cases you may be able to get treatment that is not available on the NHS at all because it is too expensive or not approved in state hospitals.
